Fellow poets, do you ever think of a line or stanza that feels like it might unfold into a larger piece, only for it to sit in your drafts for days, weeks, months? This happens to me far too often, and so I've decided to compile them here so they have the chance to be seen by at least one other person.
Unfinished I
Gone and oft forgotten, yet when remembered you hit like a storm.
The sensation is a fog, the emotions a tsunami;
when it all crashes at once, it becomes devastating, overwhelming.
There’s a loss that can’t be articulated, an emptiness that can’t be spoken -
how confusing to feel everything and nothing,
how painful it is to become utterly broken.
Unfinished II
Were we unwanted, were we unloved
were we simply never enough?
To be left behind, even if only in dream;
to be ignored, even outside of reality?
Unfinished III
Before me is a beast,
and yet within me something stirs.
Eyes gleam with violence, teeth shine with hate;
A snarl and a growl,
the approach of heavy step -
dare expose my back to this creature,
attempt a retreat?
